Dr. Dharmendra Goyal, M.D.
Dr. Dharmendra K. Goyal is a multi-award winning psychiatric physician who works with individuals of all ages and those with dual diagnoses. Dr. Goyal’s specialty lies in helping patients overcome addiction and mental health issues.
Jeanette Bussey, LMFT
Jeanette Bussey specializes in program management, development and oversight. She has extensive knowledge and experience in both mental health and substance use issues and how they are affect individuals.
Sai Mental Health Principles of Care
1. Respect the individual
It is important to get to know the patient as a person and recognize their unique qualities. Each person has their own personal values, beliefs, boundaries and perspectives. It is vital to not only understand these aspects of the person, but to also respect them and incorporate them into their care plan.
2. Treat people with dignity
Treating people with dignity involves communicating in a respectful manner, listening to what they have to say and including their feelings into their care plan. This also means avoiding embarrassing or shaming remarks and behaviors.
3. Understanding experience and goals
To create a successful long-term care plan it is important to be understanding of an individual’s life experience, their present state, and their goals for the future. This will help to gain a deeper understanding of the individual and allow for specialized care.
4. Maintaining Confidentiality
As with any other method of care, confidentiality must be maintained where appropriate. Not only for the patient’s well-being, but to also build trust and create a productive relationship.
5. Giving Responsibility
A person-centered care approach helps the patient learn unique skills and tools to help them perform as many daily activities by themselves as possible. This is important for encouraging the development of the patient’s skills and creating more confidence in the journey to recovery.
